Who would ever have guessed that a November trip to Davis Park, Fire Island would turn up a seahorse on the beach? Certainly not me! I didn't even know that seahorses are IN the water surrounding our beaches.
But they are and Davis here, is a lined seahorse common to the south shore of Long Island. They are slow swimmers so usually hitch on ride on seaweed, which is how this little guy ended up on the beach. He was in a pile of seaweed, pebbles and sand.
